The Parental Curse!

My daddy would say that when I grew up he wanted me to have a girl just like me so I could experience the troubles he went through where I was concerned.  Well, I might not have had a girl, but I did have children and my boys have shown me they are just like me....

I witnessed this morning that my Daddy's wishes have come true, its hard to admit, but they did...

1) Clothes: I wanted to be fashionable, no hand me downs and wanted name brand items...Well, the name brand items are not my issue with the boys, but they do want fashionable, which my gracious Aunt Gaga and sweet mother-in-law has so pointed out, when the boys will wear what they buy them, but will not wear what I purchase, even tho they get to pick it out, it still something Momma bought, I guess.

2) Chores: "Stop touching me" "You're not doing it right" "I don't want to do it" "It's not fair" "Momma!" "Dad" "You only had children so you don't have to"...Remember these Mom????  I remember always fighting with my sisters growing up regarding chores, especially dishes.  We did things out of spite and only to see how much we could get on one another's nerves. This morning the boys were given new chores to complete, as they are now gonna be responsible for cleaning their bathroom (since this a hazardous zone) and the dining room, boy, thought this was a huge mistake, but I remember some scripture about and I am paraphrasing here "give a man a fish, feed him for a day...teach a man to fish and feed him for life..." Well, we are teaching the boys more responsibility and in doing so we are hearing more griping and complaining, does any of this sound familiar?

3) Smart Mouth: So Aaron has developed the "smart mouth" now, ended up calling us lazy because we added these few chores to their list.  Hmmmm....Just like his Momma,

4) Suck-up: As these new chores were added and what we call in our house as "Busy Hands", CAM decided that he should go above and beyond the call of duty and double his efforts in sucking up claiming he is the best at what they were told to do and that he was gonna have "busy hands" all day.  Well, I think that lasted until lunch as now he is playing his DS so obviously it was just his way of making us feel better about being so "lazy."

Well, seems to me they are well on their way to being just like Momma.

Cub Scout Day Camp

What in the world was I thinking volunteering for the whole week to be at Cub Scout Day Camp and to tell you the truth I wouldn't have traded my time with those boys for the world.  It was GREAT!!!  The boys were able to experience archery, BB gun shooting, fishing, wood crafts, etc.  It was not only my honor to be there, but a pleasure and a sure fact that I will do it again next year.

It would appear that each boy had their favorite activity and as such was a great unique bunch.  The eclectic personalities were just an added benefit to getting to know each of them.
Hayden experienced catching one big fish, his kind demeanor was a fine example that there is still good in the world.

Teddy blessed us with laughter and let us believe that life is full of joy and we should embrace it.
Thaddeus has the ability to be the best of friends, he has a dynamic personality that is expressed through him and others that surround him.

Alex is one of the brothers that I couldn't tell apart when they were apart unless there was a distinct difference such as a hate or article of clothing.  He made a bull's eye in Archery on the First Day of Camp.  Ah-mazing!!!
Isaac has a smile that can't melt your heart, well to tell the truth they all do.  He had the ability to foresee a need and complete such a need.  He is the other brother...lol!
Zachary is impressive with his ability to spread laughter and actually won our Most Exemplary Behavior Award and earned the Den 7 Flag.
Sean was our youngest cub and most determined, he definitely held his own with the pack.
Logan is a sweetie, he seemed to have a quiet disposition, but I think he was just more reserved.
Ayden another sweetheart, always willing to give a helping hand and extend care and devotion to anyone.
Robbie is ambitious, he rocked the BB gun, had no trouble with the rope bridge, he engaged in each activity with great enthusiasm.
Ryan achieved the rope bridge backwards, we clashed heads a lot, and I do believe its cause we have similar personalities, yes, he is so like me.
Colton is the take-charge boy and the most curious of them all.  He asked the most questions and was enthralled  about learning more and more.
Matthew aka Mattie was up for anything, so cooperative, he got along with every personality type available.
Luke strives for excellence and achieves it with greatness.
Wesley, too, was quiet.  He and Luke made a bull's eye together on the same target. These boys are truly amazing and I learned quite a bit by being able to hang out with them.
Aaron, well what can I say, he is my boy!!!  He did well for the most part especially having to adjust to so many changes and also being the only to have a parent there everyday of the week.  I do love him so much.

So now you have met the Cub Scout Day Camp Den 7 bunch. They were the bestest.  Cannot wait to do something again with each and every one of them.
