April was sure a
month filled with life changing choices and events and not just for me, but for
many of my family and friends. With all
these changes, it seems to propose questions and the main one being “What if?” Out
of all the questions to ask it would seem the “what ifs” of our past and future
tend to haunt us the most. I believe it
is due to the unknown. The unknown of what the future holds and how the past actions
of our lives encumber the future which leaves the questions of “What if” in our
minds.
The Past:
WHAT IF I didn’t
get married? WHAT IF I didn’t have children? WHAT IF I never met that person? WHAT
IF I would have taken better care of myself?
Questions such as these are questions that are filled with regret,
misery and are haunting, which one should not regret their past as the past has
made them who they are today. I remember
the quote from The Prince and Me when King Haraald is addressing Eddie
and quotes, “It is at the end of a man’s life when he realizes how important
his decisions were at the beginning.” You might not see it at this exact
moment, but you truly are where you are designed to be. Leave the past where it
is, so it doesn’t damage your present.
The Future:
WHAT IF I get
married? WHAT IF I change careers? WHAT IF I buy this house? WHAT IF I am
destined to do more than what I am presently doing? Now questions such as these
are futuristic and can rob us of our present.
These questions can only be answered with a superb amount of research, a
carefully thought out agenda and an enormous leap of faith. Hmmmmmm, FAITH!!! Wow, did I just say that? Faith believing in
something for which there is no proof, so logic would only concur that to
burden yourself with WHAT IFs for the future will also ruin your present as
well; why anyone would want to ruin a gift like that just baffles me.
With the infinite
number of WHAT IFs, wouldn’t it be easier to ask questions of WHY NOT? or WHAT’S
THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN? Since nothing in life is guaranteed WHY NOT Carpe
Diem. WHAT’S THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN when you live life to the fullest, take
chances, risk a little without regret and have FAITH?
That is very thought provoking. Very good. love you.
